Where this works

We do not offer Calivra everywhere. This page lists every country and territory where we do not, and the reason for each one. The list below is generated from the same file the site enforces, so what is published here and what is enforced cannot drift apart.

What this control is, and what it is not

We decide whether to serve this site based on the country a request comes from, as reported by the company that serves the site for us.

This restricts our own interface and nothing else. The contracts behind Calivra are public and have no owner. Anybody with a network connection can use them directly, from anywhere, without ever loading this site. We cannot prevent that and we do not claim to.

What the control actually does is remove our own act of offering, in the places where the offering is the thing the law regulates. That is a real thing to do and it is the only thing this does.

So we are careful about how we say it. Three examples of the wording we use, and why:

• We do not let a wallet on a sanctions list buy, sell or create through this site.
• We do not offer Calivra in the United Kingdom.
• We check every connected wallet against sanctions lists and refuse to serve a match.

Each of those is about what we do. The tempting shorter version of each one is about what happens to you, and that version would claim a power over the network that we do not have. Saying we prevent something we can only decline to help with would itself be a false statement, so we do not write it that way anywhere.

What happens where we do not offer it

You get a page saying so, with a link to this one and a way to write to us. That page is served instead of the site, not on top of it.

Two things still work from everywhere, and always will:

• Every page under /legal, so you can read the rules that apply to you.
• The form for telling us about illegal content, so somebody in a country we do not serve can still report something that needs reporting.

If we cannot work out where you are

If the country cannot be resolved, you can read the whole site and you cannot buy, sell or create. That is not about you or your wallet, and nothing is recorded against either.

The same applies to Ukraine when we can see the country but not the region. Six regions of Ukraine are under comprehensive sanctions and the rest of the country is not. Blocking the whole country would refuse a country that is not sanctioned; allowing it would serve six regions that are. So reading works and buying does not, until the region resolves.

If you think this is wrong for you

Write to legal@calivra.trade. A person reads it. We cannot make an exception for an individual inside a country we do not serve, and we will say so rather than leave you waiting, but if the country itself is wrongly classified we want to know.

The state of this document

This version has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Two entries in the list below are specifically waiting on counsel: the United States, where the default is to hold off until a written opinion exists, and Saint Martin, where the classification is genuinely contested. Both are recorded in the repository with the reasoning rather than decided quietly.
